School is Cool!

Today is the first day of school. It came with excitement in our house. Ready with backpacks and new school supplies my boys (even the preschooler) were anxious to get out the door this morning with the anticipation of seeing old friends and starting a new grade. The day after Labour Day seems so much more significant than January 1st for New Year’s sentiments. It’s a new start with so many new opportunities and after a long relaxed summer break I’m feeling ready to get back to a schedule.

I’m sure you’ve got the kid’s activities all set by now, but what about you? Perhaps you are longing to try something new yourself? If it’s time for you to start something different with hopes of refreshing your mind, stretching your creativity or meeting new people, I have some suggestions for you.

I love teaching

This fall I was privileged to teach several pendant making classes to high school and adult students. I find sharing information and techniques rewarding and I especially enjoy seeing what each individual does with what they are given. Precious Metal Clay is such a great medium to teach because good results are very quickly achieved with the magic of turning something clay-like to metal by torch firing.  Some people are naturals at designing and perhaps didn’t even know it! Others struggle a bit, working and reworking until they come up with something.  With a little effort each piece turns out with its own charm! It amazes me how different we all are, how differently we learn, apply instructions and share our creativity.

My next scheduled class is January 31st 2010 1-4 at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts. Create at least one pair of earrings and learn about earring findings and how to use them.  Register by calling the Centre for the Arts www.cambridgecentreforthearts.ca 519-740-4681 x 4376

If you are interested in learning PMC or beading and can get a group of 6 or more together I’d love to teach you to make your own wearable art!
